Koloi Ya Goa is committed to full compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
1. Our commitment
Koloi Ya Goa processes personal information lawfully, transparently, and only for legitimate, clearly defined purposes. We apply the eight POPIA conditions for lawful processing to everything we do.
2. The 8 conditions we uphold
- Accountability: An Information Officer is responsible for compliance.
- Processing limitation: We collect only what we need, with your consent.
- Purpose specification: We tell you why we collect data and don't use it for unrelated purposes.
- Further processing limitation: New uses must be compatible with the original purpose.
- Information quality: We keep your data accurate and current.
- Openness: Our Privacy Policy documents what we collect and why.
- Security safeguards: Encryption, hashing, access controls, and firewalls.
- Data subject participation: You can access, correct, or delete your data.
3. Special focus: verification documents
Seller ID documents and vehicle ownership papers are sensitive. We:
- Collect them only to verify legitimacy and prevent fraud.
- Store them with restricted, logged access.
- Retain them only as long as required, then securely delete them.
4. Your rights under POPIA
You may request access to your information, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to processing. To exercise these rights, email our Information Officer at hello@bidsa.co.za.
5. Complaints
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforeg@justice.gov.za.
6. Data breaches
In the event of a security compromise affecting your personal information, we will notify both you and the Information Regulator as required by POPIA.
